Taila Santos looks to capitalize on momentum of recent win in return vs. Joanne Wood at UFC Fight Night 198

LAS VEGAS – Taila Santos is catching speed in the UFC women’s flyweight division.

The Brazilian is on a three-fight winning streak and looks to make it four in a row this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 198 when she takes on Joanne Wood in the main card of the event. Santos (18-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) last fought in September where she defeated Wood’s teammate Roxanne Modafferi.

Santos is looking to capitalize on the momentum of her recent win.

“I want to take advantage of my hype right now,” Santos told MMA Junkie at the UFC Fight Night 198 media day. “I got a victory two months ago and I want to keep fighting.

“She’s a tough opponent with a Muay Thai style. A lot of people think I’m a grappler, but my roots are striking, so it’s going to be a great fight.

Santos wants to aim at the top of the division if victorious against Wood. She has a few names on who she’d like to face next, but will keep those to herself for now.

“I do have names in mind, but I’m not going to tell you right now,” Santos said. “I’ll tell you after the fight. I want to win this fight and then always of course fighting the best after this fight.”
