“The Irish Hand Grenade” is still doing his thing in 2021.

Former UFC fighter Marcus Davis, at age 48, stepped into the cage Friday at Premier FC 32 in Springfield, Mass. In his first pro MMA fight in nearly eight years, Davis (22-11) defeated Stephen Stengal (4-16) via first-round submission in the welterweight main event.

The win was Davis’ first by triangle choke in his 33-fight career.

From 2006-2011, Davis competed 14 times in the UFC. He defeated notables including Paul Kelly, Paul Taylor, Chris Lytle, and Pete Spratt, while competing against the likes of Nate Diaz, Dan Hardy, Jeremy Stephens, Ben Saunders and Mike Swick.

With the win, Davis snapped a two-fight losing skid. Prior to Friday’s event, Davis’ most recent MMA bout came in 2014, but he’s angled for a return since 2020. He had not won a pro fight since May 2013. Meanwhile, Stengal’s losing skid extended to six fights. Prior to Friday, the 37-year-old fighter had only competed once since 2015.

Premier FC 32 was also supposed to feature the return of former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao. However, Barao’s scheduled opponent Tyson Duckworth withdrew according to WesternMassMMA.com.

Former UFC, Bellator, and PFL fighter Ronny Markes (20-9) competed on the card, where he scored a first round TKO finish over Victor Jones (5-15).
