PFL champion Kayla Harrison met with UFC officials in Las Vegas to discuss next career move

PFL champion and Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison has met with UFC officials about her next career move.

In Las Vegas to present at the 2021 World MMA Awards and watch her teammate Amanda Nunes defend the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Julianna Pena at UFC 269, Harrison, who recently became a free agent, took the opportunity to listen to what the largest MMA promotion in the world had to offer.

“I had dinner with some people and it went really well,” Harrison told MMA Junkie on the red carpet at the 2021 World MMA Awards. “I had a great time, amazing hospitality, interesting conversation – what more could you want in Vegas?”

UFC president Dana White was not present at the dinner. Harrison enjoyed her meal and the conversations that took place, but she is not ready to announce if any decision has been made about her future.

“I want to announce that I’m not telling any of you sh*t tonight,” Harrison joked.

Harrison has plenty of options on the table. PFL would like for her to represent the brand as the marquee name, Bellator has also shown interest in acquiring her services, and now, the UFC is engaging in conversations with the undefeated fighter.

No matter where Harrison ends up next year, even if it is back with PFL, she is looking forward to the future to take advantage of her abilities in the prime of her career.

“I’m just excited,” Harrison explained. “I’m excited about how far I’ve climbed on the mountain and I’m excited about climbing the rest of it. I think there’s nothing but big things ahead and I’m enjoying it.”

In her perfect world, when would the 2021 PFL champ like to compete again?

“Yesterday,” Harrison said. “I would like to enjoy Christmas with my family and then get back, I’m still training right now, but I’d like to get back to two-a-days and have a fight scheduled for early spring.

“I don’t want to waste any time. I’m in the prime of my career, I feel good, I’m ready. I’m excited about the future. You can’t leave me without a goal for too long, so I want to get in there and get some more W’s.”
