NAC suspends two Dana White’s Contender Series fighters for using banned substances

Two fighters who competed on this past season of Dana White’s Contender Series have been suspended for their use of banned substances in connection with their bouts.

On Monday, the Nevada Athletic Commission unanimously voted to suspend heavyweight Lukasz Brzeski and bantamweight Muin Gafurov.

Brzeski, 29, earned a UFC contract on Sept. 14 after he submitted Dylan Potter with a third-round rear-naked choke. As a result of his positive drug test for clomiphene, a hormone medication used to treat infertility in women, Brzeski (8-1-1) was suspended nine months and fined $750. His suspension will end June 14, 2022.

Gafurov, 26, lost by split decision to Chad Anheliger in his UFC tryout on Sept. 7. As a result of his positive drug test for the diuretic canrenone, Gafurov (17-4) was suspended six months and fined $750. His suspension will end March 8, 2022.
