Video: Was Dominick Cruz out of line to publicly criticize Daniel Cormier’s analyst preparation?

Dominick Cruz sparked quite the debate before his fight at UFC 269.

At the pre-fight media day, Cruz severely criticized former two-division champion Daniel Cormier’s commentary preparation, which immediately became one of the bigger stories of fight week.

Cruz faced Pedro Munhoz on the prelims of Saturday’s card and won a hard-fought unanimous decision to make it back-to-back wins in 2021. However, before and after the fight, most of the conversation revolved around his criticism of Cormier, in which he stated the former champ does not watch tape to prepare to call the fights he commentates on.

Shortly after Cruz delivered his remarks, Cormier sat Cruz down to confront him in an unfiltered debate. Cormier felt it was out of line for Cruz to say what he did publicly.

Was Cruz wrong here? Should the former bantamweight champ have discussed his opinions with Cormier in private?

Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, “Gorgeous” George Garcia, and “The Goze” Brian Garcia discuss five topics with host John Morgan.
