Did we just witness the greatest upset in UFC history?

At UFC 269, Julianna Pena did the unthinkable by submitting Amanda Nunes in the co-main event to become the new women’s bantamweight champion. Not many were giving Peña a chance to emerge victoriously, but the fights must be determined in the cage, which made for an incredible moment that stole the show in the final pay-per-view of 2021.

The sport has seen a number of unlikely upsets over the years. Georges St-Pierre losing to Matt Serra, Holly Holm finishing Ronda Rousey, and Michael Bisping taking out Luke Rockhold are the moments that immediately come to mind when thinking of greatest upsets in the history of the sport.

Where does Peña’s win over Nunes fall in this conversation? If it’s not the best ever in UFC history, which upset holds the No. 1 spot?

Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, “Gorgeous” George Garcia, and “The Goze” Brian Garcia discuss this topic with host John Morgan.
