After ‘confusing’ UFC Fight Night 199 win, Amanda Lemos has two contenders in mind

LAS VEGAS – Amanda Lemos continued her winning ways Saturday when she defeated Angela Hill via split decision at UFC Fight Night 199.

The fight wasn’t easy for her. Her expectations of what Hill would bring into the fight did not match actuality, Lemos explained at a post-fight news conference.

“It was confusing,” Lemos told reporters including MMA Junkie, through an interpreter. “She came with a different game plan. We were expecting a striker, but she came to wrestle and do the clinch. She got me off balance a couple times. We were prepared for everything, so I was able to adapt, overcome and get the victory.”

With the victory, Lemos extended her winning streak to five, a stretch of time that also includes successful outings against Montserrat Ruiz, Livia Renata Souza, Mizuki Inoue and Miranda Granger. The run positions her, in her estimation, for a bout against a fellow ranked contender – and there are two names she has in mind.

“Nina (Nunes), first. I think she pulled out of the fight. I still would like to fight the fight,” Lemos said. “… Yan Xiaonan, I’d like to fight her, too. I think it would be a great fight. One of those two, I’ll take it. But whoever the UFC signs me up (for), I’ll take it. I’ll fight.”

Nina Nunes, the wife of UFC women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes, was originally expected to fight Lemos at Saturday’s event. However, Nunes (10-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) withdrew for an undisclosed reason Nov. 9.

As for Yan Xiaonan (13-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC), the Chinese fighter had a six-fight winning streak snapped in May when she was finished via strikes by Carla Esparza. She has not been booked since.
