Daniel Cormier not fan of Tyron Woodley meme contest: Jake Paul beats these dudes so bad, they make fun of themselves

Daniel Cormier doesn’t like that Tyron Woodley is poking fun at himself after getting knocked out by Jake Paul.

After getting edged out by Paul in their first boxing match in August, Woodley got his desired rematch this past Saturday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., but the result ended up being much more definitive for the YouTube star.

Although Woodley looked solid, Paul sent him face-first on the canvas with a big right hand in Round 6, leaving no doubt. Woodley handled the loss well and even had some fun with it. He awarded a fan $5,000 for creating the best meme of his knockout loss, but Cormier isn’t sure if Woodley trolling himself is the best look.

“That’s a bad look and you know what’s worse? The after,” Cormier said on his ESPN show “DC & RC.” I don’t know what ‘T-Wood’ was doing on social media. He pulls the knockout, he made a contest about – it’s like Jake Paul is beating these dudes so bad, that they start to make fun of themselves.”

Following his win over Woodley, Paul angled for matchups with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, fan-favorite Nate Diaz and “BMF” champion Jorge Masvidal.

But with Paul continuing to surprise everyone, Cormier wonders if it’s worth taking the risk of fighting him.

“They’re going to fight this kid under his ruleset,” Cormier said. “This kid has all the time in the world to train. Kid has money. Kid has ways of improving, and honestly, he is much better than people want to give him credit for. The kid can fight a little bit. But the reality is this: My biggest issue is these guys go in there to fight this dude, they lose to him, Ben Askren was immediately almost making fun of himself. It’s almost like you’re so embarrassed that you lost to the Disney kid or the YouTube kid that you start to almost become like self-depreciated. It’s bad what’s happening to these dudes.”
