ONE Championship has revealed the lineup for the promotion’s first event of 2022, and a strawweight title fight will serve in the headlining slot.
Reigning champion Xiong Jing Nan (16-2) of China will put her title on the line against Japan’s Ayaka Miura (11-3) in the main event of “ONE Championship: Heavy Hitters,” which takes place Jan. 14 at Singapore Indoor Stadium. The card streams on B/R Live.
Nan claimed the ONE strawweight belt in 2018 and has since racked up five defenses of her belt. “The Panda” tried to become a two-division champion in 2019 by challenging for the atomweight title, as well, but suffered a submission loss to Angela Lee. The result stands as Nan’s lone loss in her last 12 trips to the cage.
Meanwhile, Miura earns a shot at the belt on the strength of a 7-1 run in her past eight outings. The 31-year-old submission threat has earned seven of her professional wins via tapout, specializing in the Americana and armlocks from the scarfhold position.
While “ONE Championship: Heavy Hitters” featured kickboxing and muay Thai matchups, as well, the MMA portion of the lineup includes:
