Dustin Poirier is following tradition in the aftermath of one of his fights by auctioning off the gear he wore into the octagon.
Poirier (28-7 MMA, 20-6 UFC), who suffered a third-round submission loss to Charles Oliveira in their lightweight title bout at UFC 269 earlier this month, has put pieces of his fight kit up for bidding to help benefit the goal of his non-profit, The Good Fight Foundation, centered around the big fight.
A lucky bidder will be able to purchase what Poirier wore into the octagon for his Dec. 11 fight with Oliveira at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“The Diamond” nearly got his hand raised when he put Oliveira down with strikes in the first round, but the Brazilian champion managed to rally and find his way back to lock in a fight-ending choke. The items Poirier wore into the cage that night are all part of the package, including shorts, gloves, hand wraps and walkout shirt.
The auction opened at $10,000 and multiple bids already are in. The biddingn window closes Dec. 28.
For UFC 269, The Good Fight Foundation teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide 300,000 meals for families in South Louisiana, which is Poirier’s home state.

“Our goal is to provide 300,000 meals to families in need,” Poirier told MMA Junkie prior to UFC 269. “Second Harvest not only helps out my hometown of Lafayette, but they serve communities across 23 parishes with access to food and disaster relief following the immediate aftermath of storms as well as long-term recovery year round.
“With rising food prices, a monetary gift is the most efficient way to help Second Harvest ensure families across South Louisiana have a meal for the holiday. $1 can help Second Harvest provide four meals to the moms, dads and children in need.”
Poirier has used his fight career to help elevate The Good Fight Foundation. He’s attached charity goals to each of his fights, with his philanthropic efforts including building water wells to repair a ruined water supply at an orphanage and school in Uganda, building a playground for special needs children, supplying backpacks for more than 500 schoolchildren, providing transportation and tutoring for struggling youth through The Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana and more.
Poirier’s efforts have not gone unnoticed in the MMA community. In September, Poirier was honored at the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony with the inaugural “Forrest Griffin Community Award” to acknowledge his work.
