Video: Watch Kamaru Usman visit Nigeria to help organize country’s first official MMA event

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is taking a big initiative in helping build the sport of MMA in his home country.

The Nigeria-born champion visited Lagos to help set up the country’s first official MMA event, Face Off Fight Night 1, which according to The Guardian is expected to take place Jan. 7 at Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island.

In Episode 1 of Anatomy of a Fighter’s “Motherland Diaries” series on YouTube, follow the top pound-for-pound fighter on his trip to his native land, where he discusses the event’s details with his business partners and even punches in a workout despite currently healing from a broken hand suffered prior to his most recent title defense against Colby Covington at UFC 268.
