Ben Parrish will gladly ‘kill’ another prospect, expects battle with Sullivan Cauley at Bellator 273

Ben Parrish is happy to continue playing the role of prospect killer.

A 6-to-1 underdog against highly touted Christian Edwards last September at Bellator 266, it took Parrish (5-1 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) only 38 seconds to score one of the biggest upsets of 2021 when he sparked Edwards with a big overhand left in his promotional debut.

Now “Big Tuna” will get the opportunity to shut down another prospect when he faces Ryan Bader protege Sullivan Cauley (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) at Bellator 273 on Jan. 29 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.

“I know what I’m getting myself into right here,” Parrish told MMA Junkie. “I don’t want to sell him too high or sell him too short, but he’s a college wrestler, he’s got some hands, he’s really fast, athletic, powerful. Like I said, I know he’s not fixing to quit. It’s gonna be one of those war fights, and I’m ready to get it on and going. If they want me to kill every prospect they got, I will.”

While it took Parrish less than a minute to dispatch of Edwards, the Mississippi native expects a drawn-out battle against Cauley.

“This one’s gonna be a battle, I’d say,” Parrish said. “A lot of people don’t think so. They think I’m gonna knock him out when I touch him. That could happen, but at the end of the day, you see me (shows off bruises on face). I just know what I’m getting myself into so I’ll be ready.”
