Video: Should Bellator grant Fedor Emelianenko’s retirement fight wish?

Fedor Emelianenko is looking to end his MMA career with the Bellator heavyweight championship, according to company president Scott Coker.

Speaking with MMA Junkie, Coker said Emelianenko (40-6 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) asked him for a rematch with Ryan Bader (28-7 MMA, 6-2 BMMA) for his planned MMA swan song this summer in Moscow, ideally with the title on the line.

Bader first has business to tend to, as puts his heavyweight belt up for grabs in a unification bout against Emelianenko’s teammate and interim champ Valentin Moldavsky at Bellator 273 on Jan. 22.

If Bader manages to get past Moldavsky, the promotion will have a curious choice to make: Grant Emelianenko his wish for a rematch of his 35-second knockout loss to Bader at Bellator 214 in January 2019, or go in a different direction for the legend’s final fight.

Which option makes the most sense? That was under debate on the latest episode of “Spinning Back Clique,” with host John Morgan and panelists Brian Garcia, Nolan King and Mike Bohn.
