Henry Cejudo rips Alexander Volkanovski for accepting ‘Korean Zombie’ fight

Henry Cejudo won’t get his opportunity to become “C4,” at least not yet.

When Max Holloway was forced to withdraw from his trilogy bout against UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 272, former UFC dual champion Cejudo jumped at the opportunity to take that fight.

Cejudo (16-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who’s currently retired, has long expressed interest in moving up to 145 pounds to challenge Volkanovski and just when he thought he got his opportunity, the promotion went with Chan Sung Jung as a replacement for a title fight. Volkanovski (23-1 MMA, 10-0 UFC) also tweeted at “The Korean Zombie,” and Cejudo slammed the champion for opting to face Jung (17-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) instead.

Hey @alexvolkanovski it figures you would go for the Zombie…and not the guy that would turn you into the Walking Dead.”

“Winner by forfeit. #C4”

Volkanovski will no longer compete at UFC 272 in March, Instead, Volkanovski will attempt to make his third title defense when he faces Jung at UFC 273 on April 9. The location for the event has yet to be announced.
