Video: Is the UFC making a mistake by not bringing back ex-champ Henry Cejudo?

Dana White made things pretty clear about where he stands on former two-division champion Henry Cejudo. But is there a chance he’s making a mistake?

Cejudo retired after a 2020 bantamweight title defense against ex-champ Dominick Cruz. But in recent weeks, he tried to insert himself into the featherweight title picture when Max Holloway had to pull out of a rematch with titleholder Alexander Volkanovski.

Cejudo said he’d jump right back in and fight at 145 pounds to try to add a title in a third division to his resume. And White said that’s not happening.

“This is a f*cking silly conversation. Silly,” White told MMA Junkie after UFC on ESPN 32. “… You don’t just f*cking pop up and start calling somebody names and think that you’re going to get a title shot in a different weight class when you’ve been retired for, what, two and a half years?”

Plus, Cejudo isn’t even in the current USADA drug testing pool.

But if he took the steps to come back, should the UFC welcome him back to the fold? Is White making a mistake by almost dismissing Cejudo’s pitch to return out of hand?
