Flyweight champ Karina Rodríguez defends belt at Invicta FC 46 in March

Invicta FC flyweight champion Karina Rodríguez will look to defend her newly won title for the first time when she takes on Brazilian promotional newcomer Ketlen Souza.

Promotion officials today announced that the contest will headline Invicta FC 46 on March 9 at the Police Athletic League in Kanas City, Kan.

Broadcast information for the event will be announced in the coming weeks, according to the organization.

Mexico’s Rodriguez (9-4) claimed the title in May with a decision win over Daiana Torquato. The 36-year-old champ currently stands at 3-1 in her past four outings, a run that includes wins over UFC veterans DeAnna Bennett and Milana Dudieva.

Meanwhile, Souza (11-3) debuts for the promotion on the strength of a three-fight winning streak earned while competing in her native Brazil. “Esquentadinha” has earned nine of her career wins via stoppage, including eight by knockout.

The Invicta FC 46 lineup currently includes:

  • Champ Karina Rodriguez vs. Ketlen Souza – for flyweight title
  • Milana Dudieva vs. Daiana Torquato
  • Danielle Taylor vs. Liz Tracy
  • Monique Adriane vs. Paulina Granados
  • Fatima Kline vs. opponent TBA
