MMA fans have wondered where UFC lightweight prospect Guram Kutateladze has been, but they no longer have to.
A main training partner and good friend of welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev, Kutateladze (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his own splash when he picked up an impressive win over formerly unbeaten and now ranked UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot in his promotional debut in October 2020.
But since then, Kutateladze has been plagued with injuries and visa issues that have kept him out of action, but the 30-year-old Georgian says he can finally start gearing up for his return (via Instagram).
“After more than a year being away from my home, from the cage, because of knee surgery and rib injury, that I suffered for 8 months. Plus US Visa issues etc. I can finally say, I’m injury free and Visa process heading positive direction.
Thanks God, everything is his will. I’m getting back to fight preparations and will be ready to enter the cage in nearest future. Thank you all for the support. /Yours G. K.”
After edging out Gamrot, Kutateladze saw multiple bookings with Don Madge fall through due to injury. The All Stars Gym Sweden fighter has won his past nine in a row and is hoping to return to action within the next two to three months.
