Jorge Masvidal has bad intentions for Colby Covington.
Masvidal made that very clear once again Tuesday ahead of his long-awaited clash with Covington in the main event of UFC 272 on March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Masvidal (35-15 MMA, 12-8 UFC) issued a scathing video message to Covington (16-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC), ripping him for “getting kicked out” of American Top Team where the two former best friends used to train together.
“At the temple, home to some real motherf*ckers left and right,” Masvidal said, appearing to take a selfie video from inside the gym. “I’m not the only one here that’s a bad motherf*cker. There are many motherf*ckers here but not your b*tch ass that got kicked out of here. Damn, man. I know it hurts every time you see that (ATT logo). I know what a sensitive b*tch you are and how you read the comments and cry. I can’t imagine every time you see this symbol, it just hurts.
“Keep talking sh*t, though. March 5 is getting closer and so is this knee to your temple. Not only am I going to break your face in a violent way, but the UFC is going to see you as such a liability that they’re going to kick you out, bro. And then it’s going to be back to Indian reservations where you can fight. Maybe you can co-main event or some sh*t like that because I don’t think you can main event after I’m done with you in any show. I’m going to f*ck you up, man. March 5 can’t come close enough. See you soon b*tch.”

It’s no secret that Covington and Masvidal have bad blood between them. They used to be best friends and teammates at American Top Team, but they began to drift apart as both fighters rose to title contention. Covington, now at MMA Masters, has taken many shots at Masvidal in the past two years, and Masvidal hasn’t been shy in firing back.
Covington is coming off a championship loss to Kamaru Usman last November at UFC 268. He lost the fight by unanimous decision. It was Covington’s second title-fight loss to Usman as he had been stopped in late 2019 by “The Nigerian Nightmare.” Covington is 8-2 in his past 10 trips to the octagon.
Meanwhile, Masvidal is also coming off a loss against the champ. Masvidal last fought in April at UFC 261, losing to Usman by knockout. It also was his second defeat to Usman. Prior to the pair of losses to Usman, Masvidal was on a three-fight winning streak, which included the “BMF” title win over Nate Diaz and the 2019 flying-knee Knockout of the Year over Ben Askren.
