UFC 271 faceoff: Derrick Lewis, Tai Tuivasa show respect during press conference staredown

HOUSTON – Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa came face-to-face as opponents for the first time during UFC 271 fight week at the pre-fight press conference.

After answering questions from the media, Lewis (26-8 MMA, 17-6 UFC) and Tuivasa (14-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) came face-to-face.

Lewis, 37, former UFC heavyweight title challenger and rising contender Tuivasa, 28, meet Saturday in a clash between two fan-favorite fighters. The fight serves as the co-main event of UFC 271, which takes place at Toyota Center and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Looking to make it two straight wins, Lewis returns to his hometown looking to erase the bad taste of his interim title challenge loss at UFC 265. Tuivasa comes in riding hot, winning his previous four contests as he looks to make his own case for a title shot.
