Christine Ferea says things are personal in BKFC rematch with Britain Hart

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – When Christine Ferea looks across the ring to Britain Hart on Saturday, there will be more than just a title on the line.

Ferea meets Hart for BKFC’s women’s flyweight belt on the BKFC KnuckleMania 2 main card at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The two fought at BKFC 5 in 2019, and Ferea picked up a second-round TKO.

And while the title is great, Ferea said she and Hart are former friends who had a falling out, leading to another more personal storyline.

“We’re no longer friends,” Ferea told MMA Junkie. “There was some backstabbing going on. We’re in the same division. It’s business. Any friends in the same weight class is kind of difficult. I try to keep it cool with everybody, but she took it to different lengths and tried to ruin my career in ways – just doing weird sh*t. She was just talking sh*t, saying I do this and that. I’m not going to speak on it because it’s not true, and I’m not even going to put that out there. It’s just planting seeds everywhere to try and mess with me.

“But I’ll teach her on Saturday. That’s just a little bit more added fuel. I’ve never went into a fight not liking somebody, so I’m curious how that’s going to play out as well. I feel less when I get hit when I’m pissed. I think I’m going to stand there a little bit more and trade.”

The 39-year-old Ferea is working off back-to-back knockouts of Calie Cutler and Calista Silgado in the bareknuckle phase of her career. (She fought three times in MMA for Invicta FC in 2017 and went 1-2.)

She said winning a BKFC belt would give some validity to the work she’s done.

“(Winning the title would be) a dream come true,” Ferea said. “(I was part of) starting the sport, being a pioneer and helping the sport grow and giving the example of hard work and dedication. The level of sacrifice and hard work that I put in, I think is above average and I think that it’s good for the younger generations and the generations to come.”
