Logan Storley chomping at the bit for Yaroslav Amosov rematch after confidence was king at Bellator 274

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Over the span of 25 minutes Saturday, Logan Storley thinks he grew up as a fighter.

Known for his wrestling abilities prior to his MMA career, Storley (13-1 MMA, 8-1 BMMA) was long pigeonholed as a grapple-first fighter. After his unanimous decision victory over Neiman Gracie (11-3 MMA, 9-3 BMMA) at Bellator 274, however, there may be more tricks up his sleeve than met the eye previously.

“(It was) 25 minutes and I don’t think I shot one time,” Storley told MMA Junkie at a post-fight news conference. “Since I was five years old, (and) now I’m turning 30. That’s 25 years of just wrestling. That’s the No. 4-ranked guy in the world. I went toe-to-toe and got the better of him the whole time. It was the most fun I’ve ever had. I landed big shots, took shots, kept moving, and that was a huge step in my career over the last half-hour.”

With his first Bellator main event victory in the rearview mirror, Storley quickly turned his attention back to his main focus: a title shot. A familiar face currently holds the welterweight strap, which makes Storley even antsier in anticipation of a rematch.

In November 2020, Yaroslav Amosov defeated Logan Storley via split decision. The bout was highly competitive with many viewers deeming Storley the only opponent to give Amosov any sort of trouble thus far in his Bellator tenure.

While Amosov (26-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) is currently booked to defend his title May 13 against Michael “Venom” Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA) in London, Storley wants next. Things would go differently next time, he predicted.

“I mean, yeah, I want the title shot. That’s the No. 4 ranked guy. I fought the champ to a split decision that was only three rounds and had him in trouble at the end of the third. During that fight, I got stronger. I want the title shot. I think a lot of people want to see it, especially if it’s Amosov. Much respect to him, but I’m coming to get that belt.

“… You just saw some of them out there. That fight was 15 minutes. I shot. The whole time, I scrambled. That took a lot out of me, and him, too. I didn’t have that confidence that I have now. I grew up right out there those last 25 minutes as an MMA fighter. That’s the biggest difference and I want that title shot.”
