Joanna Jedrzejczyk: Colby Covington a ‘hell of a fighter,’ but Jorge Masvidal will surprise him

Joanna Jedrzejczyk isn’t Colby Covington’s biggest fan but admits he’s a great fighter.

Jedrzejczyk trained with both Covington and Jorge Masvidal at American Top Team, but after Covington parted ways with his longtime gym, Jedrzejczyk didn’t mince her words towards him and the drama he stirred with his ex-teammates.

The former UFC strawweight queen backed her good friend Masvidal (35-15 MMA, 12-8 UFC) throughout his rift with Covington (16-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC), and despite picking “Gamebred” to beat Covington at UFC 272, she couldn’t help but praise “Chaos.”

“F (Colby),” Jedrzejczyk said in an interview with The Schmo. “But no, it’s a big fight, you know? Probably, it’s going to be one of the biggest fights of 2022, and Jorge Masvidal has this ATT nation behind his back, but Colby is hell of a fighter, very dedicated. I remember them both training here. They used to do training together for one-and-a-half hour and do some extra training together after. So they both are very dedicated, very talented. But I feel like Jorge Masvidal is going to surprise like he did in the fight with Ben Askren or Darren Till, for example.”

According to Tipico, Masvidal is a +265 underdog heading into his grudge match with Covington, but the likes of Jedrzejczyk, Gilbert Burns and ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley are all picking “Gamebred” for the upset.
