This date in MMA history: Ronda Rousey’s record-setting submission of Cat Zingano at UFC 184

It seems like forever ago we last saw Ronda Rousey in the UFC, though it’s only been five years. But in MMA timelines, five years might as well be a lifetime.

These days, Rousey is back in the WWE – just a few months after giving birth to her first child, a baby girl with husband and former UFC standout Travis Browne. Just four months after the baby arrived, Rousey made a surprise return to the WWE and won the Royal Rumble to set up a title fight with Charlotte Flair.

It seems crazy that it’s already been seven years since one of Rousey’s signature wins – a 14-second armbar finish of Cat Zingano to defend the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 184. That win came on the heels of a 16-second knockout of Alexis Davis and had the MMA world saying Rousey was the best women’s fighter in history.

Remarkably, the seven years that have passed since her win over Zingano already is longer than the entirety of her pro MMA career. But the anniversary gives us a chance to look back at the fastest women’s title fight win in UFC history – one of Rousey’s six bonus-winning performances in the octagon.

Below, relive Rousey’s win over Zingano. You can check out their pre-fight faceoffs, Embedded episodes, MMA Junkie’s recap, backstage interviews and more.
