UFC 274 adds welterweight bout between Danny Roberts and Francisco Trinaldo

UFC has added a welterweight matchup to its May pay-per-view event.

The promotion has announced the addition of Danny Roberts vs. Francisco Trinaldo to UFC 274, which is set to take place at Footprint Center in Phoenix on May 7. The event is headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje for the lightweight title.

England’s Roberts (18-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) will look to extend his current win streak to three, following a second-round stoppage win over Zelim Imadaev in 2019 and a split decision victory over Ramazan Emeev in October at UFC Fight Night 195. During the contest against Emeev, he suffered a nasty gash on the top of his head that required multiple stitches.

Roberts spent nearly two years on the sidelines between his last bouts due to injuries and COVID-19-related cancellations, but returns this time after only six months.

Brazil’s Trinaldo (27-8 MMA, 17-7 UFC) will seek his second-straight win after moving up to the welterweight division. The former lightweight made the change in 2021, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Muslim Salikhov at UFC Fight Night 189, but rebounded with a split decision win over Dwight Grant at UFC Fight Night 196.

With the addition, the UFC 274 lineup includes:

  • Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje – for lightweight title
  • Macy Chiasson vs. Norma Dumont
  • Donald Cerrone vs. Joe Lauzon
  • Ariane Carnelossi vs. Loopy Godinez
  • Blagoy Ivanov vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
  • Kleydson Rodrigues vs. CJ Vergara
  • Danny Roberts vs. Francisco Trinaldo
  • Brandon Royval vs. Matt Schnell
