Video: Kamaru Usman offers his UFC 272 prediction for Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal

Is there anyone better to give insight on Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidalthan the man who has defeated both competitors on more than one occasion?

On Friday, ahead of UFC 272‘s ceremonial weigh-ins, UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman offered his predictions and analysis of how he expects the main event between Covington (16-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) and Masvidal (35-15 MMA, 12-8 UFC) to unfold.

When asked if the fight were to reach the later rounds of the 25-minute-scheduled non-title fight, the champ sees one side being at a clear disadvantage.

“I don’t look good for Masvidal,” Usman said during the Q&A session. “I’m just being honest. If it goes into the later rounds, that means that Colby has somehow found a way to keep the fight going as long as he can, so I just don’t think that favors Masvidal.”

Usman has faced Masvidal and Covington twice, stopping both men in one of the two meetings. At UFC 245, Usman finished Covington by fifth-round TKO, and went the distance with him in the rematch at UFC 268. At UFC 251, Usman picked up a unanimous decision win over Masvidal and then won by second-round knockout in their second meeting.

Despite holding a total of four title fight victories over the two men, Usman could find himself sharing the cage once more in the near future with the winner of Saturday’s main event.
