UFC Fight Night 203 winner Cody Brundage honors daughter by wearing epilepsy awareness armband

LAS VEGAS – Cody Brundage was fighting for a lot more than just his first UFC win.

After a rough start that saw Dalcha Lungiambula swarm him early, Brundage (7-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) rallied to score a first-round submission this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 203.

Brundage, who sported an armband at both the pre- and post-fight news conferences, dedicated the win to his 1-year-old daughter, who was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition in 2021.

“It’s my daughter’s name, Kingsley, in purple, which is epilepsy awareness,” Brundage told reporters at the post-fight news conference. “I’ve been kind of vocal about it. Nobody has really asked me too much. The UFC did a story, but she has a very rare genetic condition, and I actually found out the week of my first UFC fight. So that was a really hectic week.

“It’s called AOG 13. There’s only, like, 40 documented cases of it. Basically, kids that have it are predisposed to epilepsy, seizures, like major delays developmentally, so the UFC made this for me to kind of just honor that, honor her. She gives me a lot of motivation for what I’m fighting for. I thought it was really cool they did that and allowed me to promote that on their platform.”
