Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 6 is in the works.
The UFC recently began to chip away at recruiting fighters and building lineups for the 2022 installment of the popular development series, with plans to relaunch around a July timeline.
Three people with knowledge of the plans recently informed MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. While no names have been officially confirmed, multiple fighters have already received offers to partake in the season, sources added.
Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) launched in 2017, serving as a boost for the next breed of UFC talent to prove they are ready for the big show. Notable alumni include Sean O’Malley, Geoff Neal, Brendan Allen, Johnny Walker, Tracy Cortez, and more.

The number of UFC contracts handed out by the promotional brass has increased each season.
- Season 1 = 16 contracts (eight episodes)
- Season 2 = 23 contracts (eight episodes)
- Season 3 = 30 contracts (10 episodes)
- Season 4 = 37 contracts (10 episodes)
- Season 5 = 39 contracts (10 episodes)
It is unknown at this time how many episodes Season 6 will be, nor the specific launch date.
Since its launch, DWCS has become the main talent funnel when it comes to organic UFC signings. Outside of short-notice opportunities, and with some exceptions, the promotion has reserved many of its roster openings for fighters who earn their paperwork on the series.
