Makwan Amirkhani was fighting for job at UFC Fight Night 204, wants to avenge all his losses
LONDON – After a three-fight skid, Makwan Amirkhani got a crucial win Saturday at UFC Fight Night 204.
Amirkhani (17-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC) choked Mike Grundy (12-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) unconscious quickly into their fight on the preliminary card. It was Amirkhani’s first win since July 2020 – and his third straight win by anaconda choke.
“When you have a few wins, you get a lot of friends – everybody’s your friend,” Amirkhani said after the fight at O2 Arena in London. “When you lose, there’s nobody. I love the losses because of that reason – that it shows who are the real people around me. Now when those people are gone and only the real ones are left, I feel so much joy. Even though there was that pressure, the losses show me a lot of good things.”
