It’s one thing to win. It’s another to do so by omoplata.

That’s exactly what Nojus Namajunas did in order to score his first professional MMA victory. Older brother of UFC champion Rose Namajunas, the 32-year-old fighter defeated Tanner Wonch via second-round submission at MCF 22 in North Platte, Neb. this past Saturday.

He still has quite a ways to go until he has a legacy like that of his sister, but Namajunas took the first step in the right direction with this victory. For those unaware, it’s a submission very seldom see at the professional level. Only two fighters, Ben Saunders and Adam Wieczorek, have ever pulled it off in the UFC.

Check out Nojus Namajunas’ submission below:

MMA Junkie spoke to Namajunas ahead of his professional debut in 2021 and he detailed his comeuppance, albeit delayed, in mixed martial arts.

“Most people that are 30, yeah, they’re not going to make it to the UFC,” Namajunas said. “The odds are against me. I really do believe in myself and I think I can go really, really far if I’m just doing what I’m doing right now. We’ll see how far I can get, but I do have aspirations to go to the UFC and do everything that I can to get to the top.”
