With Rafael Alves out, Grant Dawson steps in to face Jared Gordon at UFC Fight Night on April 30
Jared Gordon has a new opponent for his next fight.
Rafael Alves has been forced out of UFC Fight Night on April 30 and Grant Dawson (17-1-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC) will step in on short notice to face Gordon (18-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Both fighters confirmed the news on social media after an initial report from The Underground.
After a short stint at featherweight, Gordon moved back up to lightweight and picked up a split decision win over Joe Solecki at UFC Fight Night 193 this past October. The 33-year-old has won his past three fights.
Unbeaten in the octagon, Dawson is coming off a majority draw against Ricky Glenn at UFC Fight Night 196. Prior to that, the Dana White’s Contender Series graduate scored a last-second Performance of the Night knockout over Leonardo Santos.
With the change, the lineup for Apr. 30 includes:
- Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera
- Gina Mazany vs. Shanna Young
- Daniel Silva vs. Francisco Figueiredo
- Cortney Casey vs. Antonina Shevchenko
- Jake Collier vs. Justin Tafa
- Mike Breeden vs. Natan Levy
- Gabe Green vs. Yohan Lainesse
- Carlos Candelario vs. Tatsuro Taira
- Tristan Connelly vs. Darren Elkins
- Krzysztof Jotko vs. Gerald Meerschaert
