Mateusz Gamrot, Arman Tsarukyan angle for matchup of surging UFC lightweights

Mateusz Gamrot and Arman Tsarukyan have both been champing at the bit for a matchup with a ranked UFC lightweight. In the end, that may lead to a bout against each other.

Gamrot (20-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Tsarukyan (18-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) are proving to be worthwhile players in the loaded 155-pound division, with each man riding a multi-fight winning streak. They both think their work has earned them a high-profile name, but unfortunately, they are struggling to find willing adversaries.

Tsarukyan expressed his frustrations on social media, which prompted Gamrot to raise his hand and create an exchange that appears to perfectly align a fight between them (via Twitter):

Respect. I wish we had guys like you in 155 top 10, those guys will do anything to avoid fighting down the rankings

@ArmanUfc

We both want it and we both ready! @seanshelby just send us the date and location
@gamer_mma is the only one who raised his hand. Let’s do it 👊🏼

I want to fight the best in the world, you are one of them. Let’s go 👊

Tsarukyan, No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie lightweight rankings, has won his past five fights in the octagon, including back-to-back TKO finishes over Joel Alvarez and Christos Giagos.

Gamrot, who is an honorable mention in the latest rankings, currently is on a three-fight winning streak with finishes over Diego Ferreira, Jeremy Stephens and Scott Holtzman.
