No titles changed hands Saturday at UFC 273 in Jacksonville, Fla.
The two men looking to become undisputed titleholders in their respective weight classes fell short. Chan Sung Jung (17-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) suffered a fourth-round TKO loss to Alexander Volkanovski (24-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC) in their featherweight title main event, while Petr Yan (16-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) fell on the wrong end of a split decision in his bantamweight title unification rematch with Aljamain Sterling (21-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) in the co-headliner.
There’s an abundance of potential avenues for each guy going forward, but the most prominent is a potential retired for the 35-year-old “Korean Zombie,” who suffered the far more punishing defeat between himself and Yan.
