Bellator 279 pre-event facts: Cris Cyborg approaches record title reign
The second half of Bellator’s weekend doubleheader takes place Saturday with Bellator 279, which goes down at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu with a main card that airs on Showtime following prelims streamed on MMA Junkie.
A pair of championship fights headline a loaded lineup. In the main event, women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (25-2 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) looks to maintain her stranglehold over the division when she clashes with Arlene Blencowe (15-8 MMA, 8-4 BMMA) in a rematch of a fight the Brazilian won by second-round submission in October 2020.
The co-headliner, meanwhile, will see an interim bantamweight champion decided as the promotion’s next grand prix goes into full swing with a matchup between Juan Archuleta (25-3 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) and Raufeon Stots (17-1 MMA, 5-0 BMMA).
