Bellator 278 post-event facts: Another underdog claims gold
Bellator kicked off its weekend doubleheader on Friday with Bellator 278, which took place at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu and saw a championship belt switch hands in the main event.
Although the finish was marred in controversy, Liz Carmouche (17-7 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) left the event as the new women’s flyweight titleholder after securing a fourth-round TKO of Juliana Velasquez (12-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) in the headlining matchup.
Carmouche was yet another betting underdog to win in a Bellator main event this year, which has been a common theme for the promotion.
