Krzysztof Jotko calls Gerald Meerschaert ‘a human blanket’ ahead of UFC on ESPN 35 fight

LAS VEGAS – Krzysztof Jotko had a rough go of things this past October when he beat Misha Cirkunov.

When he was sick during training camp, plus had broken ribs, most around him encouraged him to back out. But he stayed the course and took a split decision, which gave him four wins in his past five fights. And that perseverance, he said, taught him a lot about who he is as a fighter.

Against Gerald Meerschaert on Saturday, he comes in from a camp that didn’t have the same hurdles as last time, and that has him hoping things go even better.

“I think he’s a very tough guy. He’s more of a jiu-jitsu guy – a human blanket. I know he’ll be a hard fight,” Jotko said.

Jotko (23-5 MMA, 10-5 UFC) fights Meerschaert (34-14 MMA, 9-6 UFC) to open the UFC on ESPN 35 main card Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN2/ESPN+.
