Joanderson Brito happy for quick turnaround after losing his UFC debut

LAS VEGAS – After an unbeaten streak that lasted more than six years, Joanderson Brito finally had to take a loss in January.

Brito dropped a decision to Bill Algeo in his UFC debut after a 12-fight unbeaten streak in which he went 11-0-1. Brito said he was looking for a finish, but wasn’t able to get it. Now, though, he has a fast turnaround for a shot at redemption.

Brito (12-3-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) fights Andre Fili (21-8 MMA, 9-7-1 UFC) on the UFC on ESPN 35 main card Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN2/ESPN+.

“I’m ready to fight every single month if it’s possible,” Brito said at Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 35 media day. “Even before I started fighting, I used to follow (Fili), so I know he’s great. But now is my time. I’m young, and I’m ready to put on the show that I want to do. He has a great name. For me, I like that.”
