Zabit Magomedsharipov might’ve left the MMA community sad and wondering, ‘What if?,’ but he also left us with several fun fights and wild finishes to reminisce on.
The fan-favorite Dagestani featherweight announced his retirement from the sport this week, walking away unbeaten in the UFC and at only 31. Magomedsharipov (18-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) was an interesting personality and most importantly a legitimate title contender on the rise.
Magomedsharipov’s six-fight journey up the UFC rankings was a fun one with four $50,000 post-fight bonuses. But by far his most insane finish in the octagon actually didn’t see an extra fight night check.
At UFC 228 in 2018, Magomedsharipov submitted a very tough Brandon Davis with a rare (and painful) Suloev stretch, practically turning Davis into a human pretzel.
It was a wild, wild finish that somehow didn’t get a Performance of the Night award. You can look back at Magomedsharipov’s Suloev stretch finish in the video above.
