Enrique Barzola banking on tournament experience vs. Magomed Magomedov at Bellator 282

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Enrique Barzola may have a tough task in front of him, but he’s hoping his past experience in tournaments pays dividends Friday.

Barzola (18-5-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) is a slight underdog against Magomed Magomedov (18-2 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) in their quarterfinal matchup in the bantamweight grand prix at Bellator 282. But he’s not thinking about who might be in the semifinals if he wins, or the $1 million prize at the end of the rainbow.

“I have experience for this tournament – it’s the third tournament of my career. My first tournament was in Peru, and I lost. My second tournament was in the UFC … but now, I stay focused on my fight,” Barzola told MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s media day. “I’m not focused on the money (for the winner). I’m staying focused for Magomedov.”

Bellator 282 takes place Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.
