2022 PFL 5 video highlights: Anthony Pettis gets top playoff seed despite submission loss

The PFL continued its regular season Friday with playoff positioning on the line in the heavyweight, lightweight and featherweight divisions.

Perhaps of biggest significance was the way Anthony Pettis made his way to the four-man lightweight playoffs. Pettis had 6 points from his first fight in the regular season. But Friday, he was upset by Stevie Ray with a second-round submission.

That kept Pettis’ point total at 6, and he has the No. 1 seed in the postseason by virtue of a finish in his first fight. Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Alexander Martinez have 6 points, as well, but through two decisions.

Ray’s win over Pettis gave him 5 points, and in a crazy twist of fate, that made him the No. 4 seed in the playoffs – setting up a rematch with Pettis later this year.

Also Friday, even though Bruno Cappelozza was upset by Matheus Scheffel in their heavyweight bout, he still made the playoffs ahead of Klidson Abreu because he had a finish in his first fight.

Check out all the highlights from Friday’s fights in Atlanta in the video above, including Chris Wade’s win to secure the top seed at featherweight and Ryoji Kudo’s thunderous knockout of Alejandro Flores to get the No. 2 featherweight seed.
