Kevin Holland doubts desired Nate Diaz UFC fight will happen: ‘He doesn’t want the smoke whatsoever’

LAS VEGAS – UFC welterweight Kevin Holland doesn’t think the Nate Diaz fight happens.

The always game Holland (23-7 MMA, 10-4 UFC) threw his name in the hat when Diaz said he’d be willing to fight anyone, but he doesn’t like his chances of getting the matchup.

“No, no, no, I doubt Diaz wants this smoke,” Holland told MMA Junkie. “I’d probably get Nick before I got Nate. I got Nate running the triathlon, I got the Stockton boys doing sprints instead of the Stockton slap, and I don’t know where the f*ck they at, so it’s just how it goes.”

He continued, “He doesn’t want the smoke whatsoever. Me and him in the same room hot boxing, he going to pass the blunt and say I don’t want it no more. My sh*t’s strong, you know what I mean?”

Diaz (20-13 MMA, 15-11 UFC) has one fight remaining on his UFC contract. He recently requested to be released, expressing his frustration with the promotion. Diaz pitched the idea of a boxing match with Jake Paul, prompting UFC president Dana White to say he should probably go and fight the YouTube star because it makes sense.

Meanwhile, Holland has been on a role since moving back down to 170 pounds. “Big Mouth” picked up back-to-back bonuses for finishing Alex Oliveira and most recently Tim Means in the second round at UFC on ESPN 37 in June.
