Rafael Fiziev headlines Saturay’s UFC Vegas 58 fight card and recently found himself in a social media back and forth with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor.
McGregor offered Fiziev some fighting advice after seeing footage of Fiziev competing in Muay Thai. The interaction began with McGregor suggesting Fiziev use an axe kick during a particular situation.
“Change the roundhouse to an axe kick. Roundhouse into and axe kick and this defense eats the full of the heel. I’m telling you. If their reaction to a high kick is this, implement the axe,” McGregor advised Fiziev.
Fiziev, a seasoned Muay Thai fighter, invited McGregor to come train with him and show him how to utilize the axe kick in the way suggested. While the conversation started cordial enough, it took a quick turn.
“No bother pal, sound,” McGregor replied. “Think of me as tiger woods with a 12 iron and your nose as the golf ball. And think of me sprinting for it with a running switch kick and f**k your little bend back. You little bend back nobody b**ch. Oh you bend over, wow, that’s awesome. Congrats pal haha.”
During the UFC Vegas 58 Media Day, Fiziev was asked about the social media exchange with McGregor. In his opinion, the Irishman has a few drinks and then gets high on drugs before posting on social media.
“Before he sleeps at night, he drinks first. Maybe he smokes and after maybe he like (snorts and gestures to his nose). Enough to where maybe he has one last drink of Proper Twelve. A little bit again. He takes his phone, he starts talking s**t,” Fiziev said.
