Said Nurmagomedov targets October return following UFC on ESPN 39 win

LAS VEGAS – Said Nurmagomedov is looking to get back in the cage before the year’s end.

The rising UFC bantamweight is coming off a unanimous decision win over Brazil’s Douglas Silva de Andrade at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 39 in Las Vegas. And fresh off his latest win, Nurmagomedov (16-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) is already angling a return.

“I’ll take a one-week rest, and then be back to train, and I’ll be ready for October – beginning or end,” Nurmagomedov told MMA Junkie at the UFC on ESPN 39 post-fight press conference. “I’ll be ready to fight any opponent.”

Nurmagomedov finds himself on a three-fight winning streak and is 10-1 in his past 11 outings. He entered UFC on ESPN 39 off a quick submission win over Cody Stamann, in which he won a $50,000 Performance of the Night award.
