Video: Should the UFC change its bonus structure and reward all finishes?

A couple recent UFC events have had a luxury of riches when it comes to finishes.

UFC on ESPN 37, which took place in June in Austin, Texas, had nine stoppages in 13 fights. And UFC Fight Night 204 in March in London had nine finishes in 12 fights.

In response to those surges, the UFC decided to give all the finishes on those cards a $50,000 post-fight bonus.

Fighters often hear the warning, “Keep it out of the hands of the judges.” When they do, their chances of getting extra money go up exponentially. But what if that was just how things were structured? What if along with a win bonus, fighters always got an extra check for a finish rather than relying on the UFC brass and hoping no other finishes were deemed better than theirs?

That’s what we asked our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King and Danny Segura to weigh in on with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.

Watch their discussion in the video above, and don’t miss this week’s full episode below.
