No. 5 ranked bantamweight contender Marlon Vera defeated Rob Font in his last outing to secure his place in the top tier of the 135-pound division.
Vera bloodied and battered Font on the way to a unanimous decision. Vera takes on former two-time bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in the UFC San Diego main event on Saturday.
