The product placement is out of control

As much as I want to shit on Jon Anik for this, I know he’s just doing his job.

But seriously they need to work out a better system if they’re going to shoehorn 100 brands into every event. The UFC is what I can only imagine to be a very lucrative company yet the way their advertising model works makes it look like they’re scrounging for cash and begging for sponsors. Every possible second that can be filled with an advertisement is:

“This fight is brought to you by..”

“This fight clock is brought to you by..”

“The first round is brought to you by..”

“The second round is brought to you by..”

“The tale of the tape is brought to you by..”

“The corner moments are brought to you by..” [Okay I don’t know if this is a real one but still..]

Rinse and repeat for every single fight.

Last night Nate gave pretty heartfelt interview after his win – he thanked Tony, called him a legend, thanked his team and named them off one by one which is something he’s never really done before and we saw a lot of Nate Diaz the human which was cool, and I enjoyed it for about a second before Jon Anik took over with “THIS POST FIGHT INTERVIEW IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY MODELLO – BREWED FOR A MAN’S TASTE” or whatever their stupid tagline is. Totally fucked up the moment and really took away from what we had just witnessed.

I know this is how they make [some] of their money but it needs to be toned down because it’s getting has been over the top ridiculous for a while.

EDIT: Totally forgot to mention the constant gambling ads and constant reminders to fans of the betting odds. That’s the absolute worst of all of them and needs to stop too.

EDIT 2: I also forgot about “This fighter description is brought to you by..” At this rate, in a few months we’ll be hearing “This ground and pound is proudly sponsored by DraftKings” or some shit. I don’t see any other version of this problem other than it getting way worse as time goes on.
