Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was in court on Monday and requested permission to travel to Arizona to participate in a pro wrestling event. On Tuesday, he was granted his request by a judge.
Santa Clara County judge Arthur Bocanegra ruled on Tuesday that Velasquez will be allowed to travel to Tempe, Ariz. by plane to participate in a pro wrestling event promoted by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
Velasquez is out of jail on a $1 million bond and part of his release was house confinement including GPS monitoring. His house confinement was temporarily waived.
Velasquez will travel to Arizona on Dec. 1 and return on Dec. 4. Due to his GSP monitoring device having to be removed during the time, Velasquez will have to hire a police officer at his own expense.
Velasquez faces seven charges, including attempted murder, after he allegedly chased a vehicle containing Harry Goularte and fired shots into the vehicle. Goularte stands accused of molestation of Velasquez’s then 4-year-old son.
Velasquez competed in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide several times following his MMA career. He is due back in court on Dec. 28 for a pre-trial hearing on the multiple charges.
