UFC lightweight star Paddy Pimblett believes that Jake Paul‘s boxing matches are ‘fixed’ after watching Paul’s win over former UFC champion Anderson Silva.
Paul is undefeated in his boxing career (6-0) with knockout wins over former UFC welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley and former Bellator MMA and ONE champion Ben Askren. He also has decision wins over Woodley and Silva.
Pimblett praised Paul, but believes the YouTube content creator and social media influencer has had some advantages. He also questioned the legitimacy of Paul’s boxing wins.
“They are a gang of idiots,” Pimblett said about YouTube boxers during an appearance on Pub Talk. “I give Jake Paul his due now, he’s training that much he probably could beat some professional boxers.”
“He’s got unlimited funds and he hasn’t got to do anything else, he hasn’t got to go and do a job all he’s got to do is box. And he gets the best coaches in, the best nutritionists in, and stuff like that. Jake Paul is actually not that bad now, even though I think his fights are fixed.”
“I don’t think the Tyron Woodley knockout was fixed because when you get knocked out like that and you land face first, if you’re not unconscious you’re going [puts arms out]. You can’t help it. That’s a human reaction,” continued Pimblett.
“But I seen an angle of a punch he hit Anderson Silva with the other day when he sat down, and he didn’t even hit him.”
Pimblett (19-3) is scheduled to face Jared Gordon (19-5) in the UFC 282 co-main event on December 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight card is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between No. 2 ranked former champion Jan Blachowicz and No. 3 ranked Magomed Ankalaevfor the vacant 205-pound championship.
