Paulo Costa turns down multi-fight UFC contract extension

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa has turned down a multi-fight contract offer from the fight promotion.

Costa (14-2) is expected to face former titleholder Robert Whittaker at UFC 284 on February 12, but “Borrachinha” recently said that he has not signed the bout agreement. The Brazilian has one fight remaining on his contract.

“Hey guys I’m here again to say the obvious. I don’t have a deal to fight in Perth A lot of fans are sending their regards for this fight, but ITSNOT FOR REAL , anyway see u soon in mma or boxing,” Costa tweeted on November 17.

Two weeks prior to revealing that he doesn’t have a deal in place with the UFC, the Brazilian voiced his frustration about his current ‘miserable’ contract.

“My miserable contract with the UFC was up in a few short months. will expire in time . A new #boxer is coming to town!,” Costa wrote on November 2.

On Tuesday, Costa reiterated that he only has one fight left on his contract. “Just 1 fight to get free from UFC contract,” he tweeted.

On Wednesday, Costa revealed that he recently turned down a six-fight offer from the fight promotion citing that he’s not looking for a ‘multi-fight deal.’

“so I politely declined. they offer a 6-fight deal, but I’m not interested in a multi-fight deal,” he wrote on Twitter.
