The athletes competing on the Rizin FF 40: Rizin vs. Bellator fight card participated in the event’s ceremonial weigh-in early Friday morning in Japan.
The event takes place at the famed Saitama Super Arena. The card pits promotion against promotion. In the main event, Rizin FF lightweight Champion Roberto de Souza (14-1) takes on Bellator MMA featherweight champion A.J. McKee (19-1). In the co-main event, Bellator MMA featherweight titleholder Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire (34-5) faces Rizin FF standout Kleber Koike Erbst ((31-5-1).
McKee tipped the scales at 154.7 pounds while Souza came in at 156 pounds. Erbst and Freire nearly weighed identical with Erbst weighing 145.2 pounds and Freire tipping the scales at an even 145.
