William Knight responds to critics of UFC Fight Night 219 loss: ‘I froze up, I f*cked up, I lost’

After a reasonably disastrous outing Saturday, William Knight has responded to his critics – and those still backing him.

Knight (11-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) lost for the third straight time when he was swept on the scorecards by Marcin Prachnio (16-6 MMA, 3-4 UFC) in their light heavyweight bout on the UFC Fight Night 219 main card in Las Vegas.

Knight was a slight favorite heading into the fight, but was dominated by Prachnio, particularly in the standup game. Prachnio landed kicks to Knight’s left leg at will and outstruck him 79-8 overall in the fight. The live broadcast team on ESPN+ seemed perplexed by Knight’s strategy in the fight, as were the post-fight desk analysts.

Knight posted a video response on Instagram and said the negative reactions from followers included threads – but that he knows what went wrong and that he’ll work to correct it.

“I can’t win them all,” Knight said in the video. “I didn’t even try my best, so I won’t say I tried my best. I made it out there, I f*cking touched gloves, and I went my three rounds. That’s the best I could have done. I froze up, I f*cked up, I lost. What comes with it comes with it – all the people talking their crap, I accept it. All the people showing love, I accept it. At the end of the day, you can’t please everyone.”

Knight started the video making sounds of discomfort from what likely is a left leg that will be sore for a while. He hasn’t won since a December 2021 decision over Alonzo Menifield, which was his second straight victory. Since then, Knight has dropped a decision to Maxim Grishin, was knocked out by Devin Clark, and dropped the fight to Prachnio.
